Tesla Announce Plans for Electric Pick Up Truck and Further Improvements

Elon Musk Announces new pick-up truck

It’s been a strange year for Tesla. While they have certainly been one of the most innovative companies of the year, it hasn’t been entirely smooth sailing. The Model 3 and S have certainly been in high-demand, although production line delays have somewhat stagnated the launch. Additionally, the Rocket X program has made some fantastic progress, but not all went as well as planned. In fairness though, the blooper reel was shared by Elon Musk himself.

Opening up a Q&A via his Twitter feed, however, Elon Musk has promised that the company has plans for a new car and in addition, will continue to improve.

Part of these improvements include plans for a pick-up truck model and in addition further improvements to their car designs.

A year of positives and negatives for Tesla

Despite the ups and downs, overall I think many would consider 2017 to have been a good year for the company. While they have clearly had supply line issues, that hasn’t stopped the demand being notably high.

The supply problems, however, have raised a number of critics of the car company. There are a growing number of unconfirmed reports that Tesla is suffering financial problems and that even perhaps Elon Musk is having to put his own money back into it. At least until car production levels improve.

In answer to these critics, however, Elon Musk has said: “Wanted again to send a note of deep gratitude to Tesla owners WW for taking a chance on a new company that all experts said would fail.”

An electric pick-up truck would certainly be a good idea. Particularly since it is a massive market in North and South America. We have only recently seen Tesla’s electric truck reveal, so therefore a modification of this on a smaller scale shouldn’t prove too difficult.

At the time, I did question the trucks price/range and I do believe improvements would be needed to make this viable on a large scale haulage operation. Therefore, perhaps pick-up trucks are a far more logical progression.
