Not too long ago, Tesla unveiled no less than four different solar roofs that can integrate seamlessly with pretty much any conventional home design. To be more specific, the roofs in question are made out of textured glass tiles that include photovoltaic cells, which means that they look pretty much the same as their regular counterparts. Tesla worked closely with SolarCity in order to create these tiles and the best news is that they are fully compatible with Tesla’s Powerwall 2 battery. The interesting part is that each tile is hydrographically printed, which means that no two roofs will ever be exactly the same.
The four different versions of solar panels are named Slate Glass Tile, Textured Glass Tile, Smooth Glass Tile and Tuscan Glass Tile, and it looks like they’re all much tougher tan regular tiles, which is great for people who are living in areas with a lot of hail. Using Twitter, Elon Musk revealed that these glass tiles can also include heating elements that would clear snow from the roof while allowing it to keep on generating energy. Below you will find a few images depicting the different architectural styles that we mentioned before. No word on a potential price tag just yet, but we’ll definitely keep you posted.
