Tesla Wants Into the Sustainable Energy Business

Want an electric car? If so the chances are that you have considered buying a Tesla at some point, from the Model 3 to the Model S their vehicles are considered the must-haves for anyone interested in getting an electric vehicle. Don’t worry if you want to be involved with the company but don’t want an electric car as it looks like they could be getting into the sustainable energy business, offering you electric from a renewable source.
If Tesla’s shareholders agree with Solar City’s then Tesla looks to acquire the company and join the solar power business in full. If the acquisition goes ahead then Tesla will be able to offer you electric vehicles, their powerwalls for storing your energy and solar panels. Elon Musk stated that Tesla “thinks this is a huge opportunity to have a highly integrated sustainable energy company, from generation to storage to transport”.
With the companies working in the same areas it makes sense for them to look at merging with some overlap between the companies regarding how to store electricity. With no solid outline for when the acquisition will go ahead (if they get permission from the shareholders), the deal is estimated to sit at around $2.5 to 3 billion.
Soon you could go to your local Tesla store and leave with a new energy system for your house and your car, not a bad day in my opinion.
