Connecting the Lobera Supreme and downloading the driver software on our test rig allowed me to tinker around with the full colour LED lighting. A range of colourful combinations can easily be achieved and while the keys light up a nice bright tone, you also get a customisable light strip on the left and right sides of the keyboard that adds a nice ambient glow to your desk area.
The included software is pretty cool and allows for extensive customisation of everything from macros, launchers, profiles, colours and more. The design is a little fussy and it’s not immediately clear where everything is, but with a little effort you can get everything set up without too much trouble.
Gaming performance on the Lobera Supreme is pretty much what I expected it to be, absolutely fantastic! Mechanical keys rarely disappoint and while it can often be tricky to discern much difference from keyboard to keyboard, the Lobera certainly shines in its own right. The general ergonomics of the keyboard are comfortable while gaming and the switches feel light and responsive; which is great while playing demanding games such as StarCraft II,
The thumb keys are a welcome feature, although they do take a little getting used to as it’s easy to forget they are there. While gaming they’re handy for quickly changing profiles without letting go of the mouse, but I like using them in Photoshop as extra cut and paste macros. Although I do like the on-the-fly macro recording, I’ve never really used this features on a keyboard before, but it’s certainly quicker than jumping into the software to record one, really handy when working and it allows for quick changes without leaving your game.
