Power Consumption

For power consumption we decided to plug all three displays and the system into the same extension lead with a killawatt measuring the total consumption at the wall. This gives you an idea of how much juice you’re going to need to run the system and three displays. Our testing shows you’ll be using 230W~ at a Windows 7 desktop idle state while ramping up into full game load will take between 400 and 500W depending on the game title. For our load figure we took a power consumption measurement mid Metro Last Light benchmark with all the settings cranked up to the maximum. Less intensive games will use less but more intensive games (like Crysis 3 and Battlefield 4) will use more. Of course your own mileage will vary depending on the rest of your system and what each of your monitors consume but the general rule of thumb is going to be around 500W when gaming.
