The wraps have just come off The Elder Scrolls Online – a PC and Mac MMO due out in 2013.
According to Game Informer’s reveal, it’s set 1000 years before the events of Skyrim, with daedric prince Molag Bal attempting to incorporate Tamriel into his demonic realm.
It’s Zenimax Online Studios’ very first project, with Matt Firor at the helm. He’s a former Mythic Entertainment producer whose credits include Dark Age of Camelot.
There’s not much else to go on as of yet, other than that you can expect traditional Elder Scrolls-style exploration alongside typical MMO social features. There’ll be PvP as well, which pits three factions against each other for control of the province of Cyrodiil and the Emperor’s throne.
“It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years,” said Firor.
“The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.”
Elder Scrolls fans also have Skyrim’s Dawnguard expansion to look forward to this Summer, as announced earlier this week.
