The Elder Scrolls, a series extremely popular amongst gamers, is set to be receive its own MMO. Multiple sources told Tom’s Guide that ZeniMax Online Studios and Bethesda will officially announce Elder Scrolls Online in May 2012.
While details are still rather unclear, industry sources revealed the name of the new MMO to Tom’s Guide and confirmed that the game would take place a full millennium before The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. According to the Elder Scrolls Wiki timeline, Elder Scrolls Online would most likely take place during the “Second Era”, or at least several hundred years before any of the other Elder Scrolls games.
In this MMO you’ll find three playable factions, however very little is revealed aside the fact that each will be represented by one of three animals: a lion, a dragon, and a bird of prey ( which could either be a phoenix or an eagle, it’s still unclear).
With an official announcement in May 2012, the game will most likely be found in a some way during the following events such as E3 and Quakecon 2012.
Even though the Elder Scrolls Online is news, the collaboration between ZeniMax and Bethesda on an MMO is hardly a secret since job postings have been on ZeniMax’s website for some time. Unkown until now was what franchise the MMO would go for, since it was mentioned several times the possibility of a Fallout MMO.
