The End Of GTX, NVIDIA 16 Series To Be Discontinued in Q1

Alongside the RTX 20 Series, NVIDIA kept the GTX line going with the GTX 16 series. These were primarily budget focused cards with the newer features of the 20 series but without the RT cores. This has made them an ideal choice for gamers on a budget and has allowed production to continue up until next year when they will be unfortunately discontinued.

GTX 16 Series Discontinued in Q1 2024

Claims on Boardchannels (VIA VideoCardz) have stated that the remaining cards in the 16 series lineup will be discontinued from Q1 2024. This will include the GTX 1650 and the pathetic GTX 1630 which launched in June 2022.

The translated post from board channels stated:

According to reports, starting from the first quarter (Q1), NVIDIA will completely cease the full-scale production of the GTX 16 series GPUs. This means that from Q1 onward, NV GTX16 series GPUs may no longer be supplied to AIC brand manufacturers.

if NV indeed discontinues the entire production line of the GTX 16 series, it will not only involve the already discontinued GTX 1660S but also include the two lower end logistics models, GTX 1650 and GTX 1630. At that point there won’t be any product models to temporarily fill the gap in this price range.

This will likely be the end of the GTX series lineup officially, which is a shame but that is the way things go. Whether NVIDIA will fill this budget product gap is anyone’s guess, but it will probably be an RTX class card if they do, maybe they’ll conjure up a new RTX 4050 seeing as we all know that was rebranded into the 4060.
