With Christmas now upon us, and a new year very much on the horizon, in taking stock of the 12 months we have to conclude that 2022 has been very different to 2021. – 2021 was the year in which we all wanted tech, but couldn’t get it. Somewhat contradictorily, however, while the stock situation has massively improved throughout 2022, we haven’t exactly been rushing out to buy stuff.
If anything, it feels like we have learned to be, if not more patient, then possibly a bit more apathetic when it comes to making the latest tech purchases. – Yes, in many regards, 2021 was the year in which we couldn’t get anything, and 2022 was the year in which we really seem to want anything! – Well, not at the prices which graphics cards particularly have so stubbornly maintained.
Don’t get us wrong though, 2022 has still been an amazing year so let’s take a look at some of the biggest highlights we’ve seen!
Intel, Nvidia, and AMD have certainly kept us busy over the last 12 months with a lot of new tech releases brought to the market. Overall though, it’s really hard to pick any outright winners from the three. Intel finally got their Arc alchemist graphics cards released, but they were so underwhelming that they were forgotten nearly as quickly as they (didn’t) come. Nvidia impressed us with the performance of the 4090, but then significantly less so with its price tag. For AMD, it’s hard to deny that the Ryzen 7000 series, while excellent, has gotten off to a very slow start with consumers.
With that being said though, all three still had winning products. – The Intel Raptor Lake series was a fantastic evolution of the success seen with Alder Lake. AMD’s Radeon 7900 XT and 7900 XTX might just be shaping up to be the best overall GPU of the current generation. And Nvidia… Well, this one is admittedly a bit harder, but you do have to credit them for finally coming to grips with their RTX technology and particularly so in regards to ray tracing in conjunction with DLSS3. This wasn’t a small step forward, it was a giant leap.
Christmas is, of course, a time to express gratitude and just in case you’ve never felt that before, let us take the opportunity to express our deepest thanks to all of our fans and supporters. 2022 has been an amazing year in terms of our growth.
Our Discord channel continues to find many new amazing new members (link here if you’re not already joined!). Even more so, our YouTube channel (link here) has now achieved over 70,000 subscribers with 5,000 people having discovered us over the last year! – We always try to give our community the content they want and it seems that our efforts have been noted we are incredibly grateful for this!
In a continuation from a project initially stated back in 2021 as well, we’ve also massively ramped up our efforts in attempting to find you all the tech bargains, sales, and/or discounts around! – The channel is available on our Discord, but we also have a dedicated Facebook page you can check out here!
And last but not least, we also have to give a huge shout-out to all of our Patreon members! – Gaming night every other Saturday has proven to be a huge hit, and not just for those wanting to show just how bad Andy is at games! – You can be a part of that too by checking out the link here!
The early part of 2023 is looking to be incredibly busy with Nvidia, Intel, AMD, and many others planning major announcements at CES 2023. – Given that most manufacturers’ events are going to be live-streamed rather than physically attended, we have decided to not go this year. We are, however, most definitely planning to return to COMPUTEX in the Summer and hugely look forward to bringing you all the news direct from the showroom floor!
In terms of content, our mantra remains the same. More videos, more news, more reviews, and most importantly, for the stuff we (hopefully) think you want to know! And if you want more content we don’t currently offer, just drop in our Discord and tell us! – We’ve already significantly repurposed our review procedure to incorporate things which our fans requested (GPU performance per watt for example), and we’re always open to making our content even better moving forward.
Again though, we want to close by wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, a prosperous new year, and a huge thank you for all the support you’ve continued to give us! We hugely appreciate it and fully intend to do all we can to return the trust you show in us!
