The fastest web browser in real world testing is Chrome

Another month passes by and another piece of information pops up about browser speeds. This seems like a regular occurrence as of late with every browser aiming to be top of the tower by offering the fastest speeds possible.

Compuware Gomez decided to run some performance testing this time around to find out the fastest between the four major browsers which are Google Chrome 12, Apple Safari 4, Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox and whilst Firefox came very close, Google Chrome clinched it with their older 10 and 11 versions still beating all of the other browsers.

With Chrome 12 giving a lightning faster 3.433 seconds and the other end of the scale seeing Safari 4 at 6.149 seconds, it’s certainly impressive but Safari and Internet Explorer aren’t the latest versions, making this test a tad biased towards Chrome.

It also has to be said that these tests aren’t complicated and are simply a run of the mill average test that any user can do from the comfort of their own home so we really recommend giving them a try and seeing which one you prefer. Based on our own experience, we actually have found Chrome to be the fastest, but the results may differ depending on the user, connection and overall experience.
