The human brain project

You may be wondering, what is the human brain project? Well a group of scientist/professor/boffin types from Switzerland and Germany plan to build a computer model of a brain. If they succeed this could provide cures for diseases like Parkinsons. This will also prove useful to drug companies who are testing new drugs, as they will be able to test them on the computer.
As well as helping to cure diseases it could also lead to intelligent robots and supercomputers, which would make those currently in existence appear out dated and slow. Henry Markram, who is director of the Human Brain project says that humans need to understand what it is that makes us human. Markram believes if they get a £1 Billion grant they will be able to have most if not all vital human organs reproduced within 12 years.
