It appears that after around 10 years of remakes and remasters, we might be progressing into a new popular genre. Namely, remakes of remakes. – Now, admittedly, in terms of The Last of Us, there aren’t too many grumbles in this regard as not only was it an amazing game, but seeing the graphics upgraded for the PS5 will undoubtedly represent not just a cash cow to Sony and Naughty Dog, but something that fans of the franchise are clearly going to be (mostly) all over.
With The Last of Us also confirmed for a PC release, however, this has clearly raised the question as to when this particular version will arrive. Typically speaking, for the PC ports that Sony has allowed, these have largely followed around 6-12 months on from the original console release. – Following a report via PCGamesN, however, Naughty Dog has confirmed that the PC release for The Last of Us should be coming pretty hot on the heels of the PS5 debut!
With the PS5 version of The Last of Us set to arrive on September 2nd, although Naughty Dog has not gone as far as to confirm any specific dates for the PC release, they have said that it should be arriving “very shortly” after the console release. – In other words, it seems likely, if not probable, that the PC release will happen before the end of this year which is clearly significantly sooner than many might have been anticipating.
So, while it will clearly be given some exclusivity on the PS5, let’s hope that this is the start of a new pattern that will see Sony’s (very gratefully received) PC ports arrive much faster than they have in the past!
