The most pirated games of 2011

Piracy is a huge problem across the globe, which has been brought to prominence by the American stop online piracy act or SOPA. The PC platform is guilty for more piracy than any other platform out there. Kotaku has compiled a top 5 of PC’s most pirated games and they are as follows:

1. Crysis 2 (3,920,000) (March 2011)
2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (3,650,000) (November 2011)
3. Battlefield 3 (3,510,000) (October 2011)
4. FIFA 12 (3,390,000) (September 2011)
5. Portal 2 (3,240,000) (April 2011)

What’s interesting to note is Skyrim doesn’t even appear in the top 5 even though it has been so successful. The top is filled with big block buster games in the form of Crysis 2, Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 while Fifa 12 makes an honourable showing for those Pirates looking to diversify a bit more away from First person shooters. Portal 2 creeps in at number 5 due to its pirate-friendly DRM.
