We at eTeknix love commenting on rival companies, and in all truthfulness, we find it quite funny. It reminds me of being at school when you used to compete with your friends about who had the best phone etc…. It’s not all that different when it comes to the real world and we get companies like AMD and Intel.
This time it’s the graphics giants, Nvidia and AMD.
As you may already know, their’s talks of AMD’s new graphics cores, codenamed Barts which is going to be used in the controversial Radeon HD 6870 will be faster than the GeForce GTX 460 1GB graphics card.
Due to this information, we can only assume that the Radeon HD 6870 will be more expensive than the GeForce GTX 460 1GB. Giving us a retail price of around 250. We generally hate commenting in USD or Euro’s, but it’s impossible to tell a price for us in the United Kingdom due to our wonderful exchange rate, and the fact we get taxed on EVERYTHING, so please hold fire until we know more.
I hear you saying that if you pay more, you should get more performance. Our sources tell us that you will gain around 20 to 25 percent on average with the new Barts core GPU’s.
That’s amazing i hear you say, but sadly we also know that it won’t be much faster than the current top selling 5870 graphics cards on the market. The price doesn’t look that appetizing now, does it 🙁
We have heard that given a month’s time, we should see some cards that will wiper the floor with the current Radeon HD 5870 cards, whereas the official launch for Bart should take place next week.
I wonder how successful that will be?
