The Remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Could Be Released Anytime in April
The remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion by Bethesda has been talked about for a long time, but this month, April, might be the right time to play it if the latest rumor turns out to be true. According to a recent report by journalist Jeff Grubb during the GameBreaking News show (thanks GameSpot), the game will be released soon, and it could even be a surprise launch.
Could It Happen This Month?
Grubb mentioned that there could be an “shadowdrop” of the game, which means it could be released without prior warning sometime during this month. If this is true, the announcement could happen at the same time as the launch or very close to it. This isn’t the first time a rumor like this has surfaced, but this time, the report gives a more specific release window. Earlier reports suggested a release in June.
Bethesda, now under Microsoft, has used the “shadowdrop” method in the past, with games like Hi-Fi Rush by Tango Gameworks (which is no longer part of the company) and the remastered edition of Quake 2.
Could It Be Tied to Elder Scrolls Online’s Anniversary?
The release might align with the 10th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls Online. With celebrations already underway, they might conclude with the long-awaited release of the remake. According to rumors, Virtuous Games worked on the remake, completely rebuilding it using Unreal Engine 5 and improving many of the game’s systems. Some fans expected the Oblivion remake to be revealed during the Xbox Developer Direct in January, but it didn’t happen.
