The Second Most Played Game On Steam Is Just a Banana

Banana is a game on Steam where you simply click on a picture of a banana, and the number increases. That’s the entire game. Yet, for some reason, it has gained over 600,000 concurrent players in just a few days.

Banana

Oddly enough, the game’s popularity seems largely driven by the infamous Steam Marketplace. Players who have the game open for at least 3 hours and click the banana once receive a 0.25p banana in their inventory. If they’re lucky and keep the game open for 18 hours, they might get an even rarer banana.

And these are selling by the way despite them selling slowly one sold just today at 5 AM for over £500 which is just absurd. Some of these bananas are selling for more than Counter-Strike knives.

Personally, I like most people find the absurdity of this whole situation hilarious. The thought of a simple JPEG of a banana with an increasing number potentially overtaking Valve’s own Counter-Strike is just too funny. It’s a testament to the internet’s unpredictable nature and the Steam Marketplace’s power.
