The Ultimate AMD AM5 Motherboard Guide

ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-I GAMING WIFI

The ROG Strix X670E-I is going to be very popular. Why you might ask? Because nobody makes mini-ITX boards quite like ASUS! It may be small, but it’s stacked! With layers of hardware, an add-on boards its got a feature set to rival much larger solutions. You’ll find a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, a pair of DDR5 DIMM slots, and two M.2 slots; one wired for PCIe 5.0 and one wired for PCIe 4.0.

A single heatsink cools the PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot and the chipset simultaneously, and VRM temps are aided by a large backplate, which utilizes a thermal pad to transfer heat away from critical decoupling capacitors. The ROG FPS-II card gives you easy access to front-panel headers, two SATA ports, important headers for clearing CMOS and enabling CPU overvoltage, and a PCIe mode switch for legacy expansion cards.

ROG Strix Hive

This unique external control interface puts so many features at your fingertips. Volume controls, BIOS functions, reset, A USB Type-C port and more! Plus with Flex key you can even use it to launch OC profiles too. The Hive houses top-shelf audio hardware—an ALC4050 codec and an ESS Sabre 9260Q DAC! That’s right, the soundcard is external, freeing up more space on the motherboard for other hardware! It includes a Q-LED array too, so that you can quickly diagnose build problems. An EZ Mode PBO button lets you activate a finely-tuned PBO profile in your OS in real-time—without entering BIOS.
