CD Projekt Red, the renowned developer behind the Witcher series, has announced that The Witcher 4 will soon move into full production. This marks a significant milestone for the project, codenamed “Polaris,” which has been in the pre-production phase for over two years. The announcement came during a financial call where CD Projekt’s joint CEO Michał Nowakowski revealed that the development team is “nearing a major milestone which will mark the end of the pre-production phase.”
A New Chapter in The Witcher Series
The new game, often referred to as the first installment in a new Witcher saga, has been in the works since its announcement. While the official title “The Witcher 4” hasn’t been fully embraced by CD Projekt, it’s clear the game is positioned as the next major entry in the franchise. Chief Financial Officer Piotr Nielubowicz elaborated in an earnings video that the team has made “substantial progress,” setting the stage for the transition to full production soon.
Actor Doug Cockle, who voices Geralt of Rivia, confirmed he will return for the new game, though it “won’t focus on Geralt.” Instead, the game aims to explore new characters and stories within the beloved universe.
