Thecus 10G NAS On Show At CES 2014

CES 2014 has been more of a quiet year for Thecus with a somewhat smaller stand to show off their systems, but this is not to say that they are not showing anything new. As you may or may not know I’ve covered a wide range of systems from Thecus, ranging from the entry level end of the market, up to some of the brands higher power models that are aimed at the SMB and enterprise markets. At this years show, we have three new systems on show alongside two older systems, namely the N5550 and N2560 that came out last year.
On the SOHO end of the NAS scale, Thecus have their latest in budget friendly options on show. The N2310 is Thecus’ first NAS to drop an Intel CPU from its specification and in its place an 800MHz AMCC processor is placed and along with 512MB of RAM, the usual array of RAID options, along with Thecus’ latest OS 6 and library of over 200 apps, this system could just turn out to be a little gem of a system. Stay tuned on this as I’m looking to get one in soon for review to see how it fares against the Intel equivalent systems.
Further along the line and moving up to the SMB and enterprise line of systems, Thecus have two systems the are making a debut at CES. These systems, namely the N8810U-G to the left and the N7710-G to the right are slightly higher spec models over the N8810U and N7710 that are also being released into the market at the same time as these two. All of these new systems pack a dual core Intel Pentium G850 2.9GHz processor, 4GB of RAM, full RAID support including JBOD, RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50 and RAID 60 on the rackmount models along with HDMI and VGA ports, free copies of Acronis True Image and McAfee Antivirus and in the case of the -G SKUS the systems come pre-installed with 10GBe network cards for ultra high speed data transfer.
Stay tuned as we still have more coverage for you from CES 2014 in Las Vegas.
