Thecus officially announced the N4350 NAS, an upgrade to the N4310. The N4310 was a great NAS for users who wanted to experience a Thecus NAS without breaking the budget, but it didn’t have a lot of power. That has changed with the N4350 that comes with an improved processor and the latest generation memory.
“As the demand for storage continues to grow, small office and home users are seeking the best price/performance solution for their investment,” said Florence Shih, General Manager at Thecus Technology Corp. “With the introduction of N4350, it pushes the NAS market to a new level, this versatile NAS delivers tremendous value plus the functionality to reach the full spectrum of the SOHO user needs.”
The predecessor, the N4310, only used a single-core SoC processor with 1GHz and that was the reason that the system felt underpowered. The new N4350 features a Marvell Armada 388 dual-core processor with 1.8GHz. That’s a huge improvement, but it isn’t all. While the amount of memory stays the same, it is upgraded from 1GB DDR3 memory to 1GB DDR4 memory.
While the system comes with improved hardware, it will consume less power thanks to the use of the latest technologies.
Thecus’ N4350 is an entry-level unit and as such, it doesn’t feature a lot of connectivity. That said, you get the important basics such as a Gigabit Ethernet LAN port and two USB 3.0 ports. The USB ports can be used for storage or printer sharing across your network.
Naturally, the N4350 operates on the Thecus OS7, the latest instalment of the OS. It leverages a web-based, straightforward multi-window interface which is both intuitive and feature-rich. Key features include Photo Center, File Center, and Thecus App Center. The App Center offers an extensive variety of apps for all digital areas.
The NAS also offers complete data backup and protection capabilities. Thin provisioning, replication for disaster recovery, Remote Backup or disaster recovery (for real-time remote or local backup) as well as backup to Amazon S3 cloud service.
The availability is set for September, so that’s just around the corner. The Thecus N4350 will also deliver one of the best performance to price ratio that you can find in this category with the price estimated to be under 300 USD/Euro. You can read up on the full specifications and details on the official product page.
