Thecus Launches 4-Bay NAS with Hybrid Mode Storage

The well known NAS manufacturer Thecus has just announced the newest addition to their SOHO and SMB line-up, the Thecus N4310 4bay device. Following in the footsteps of the N2310 we reviewed a little while ago, the N4310 is aimed at those who need an economical solution for their network.

The N4310 is build upon an AMCC APM86491RDK 1GHz SoC and has 1GB of DDR3 memory at an unspecified speed. Besides the Gigabit Ethernet port and the two USB 3.0 ports on the rear it doesn’t offer much connectivity, but still enough to do any basic storage job.

It supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and JBOD for the 4 drives and has a power consumption rated at 29.5W during operation mode and 10W during sleep mode. Measuring only 135 x 170 x 217 mm and with its simple design, it would fit snug into any office.

It comes with Build-in FTP server, Win/Mac/Linux sharing, Plex media server and BitTorrent support, private cloud features, AES Data Encryption, Optical Disk burning and many more features that should cover all the basics.

The unit is also equipped with a CPU Offload Hardware Engine, allowing for high performance and speed within a RAID environment (100MB/s read and 75MB/s write speed). For even further security, lockable drive trays come optional; and if you would like peace of mind with power redundancy, the N4310 also supports dual power input.

On a side note, Thecus have also officially announced support for the new WD Red 6TB and WD Red Pro drives for their NAS and NVR devices.

Thank you Thecus for providing us with this information.
