Thecus just announced their latest NAS and this time it is a rack mounted 4-bay NAS. The new N4910 PRO NAS series are versatile and compact 1U rackmount units that have been designed to deliver growing small and medium businesses (SMB) uncompromising resilience and high multi-thread performance in their storage.
The N4910 PRO series are powered by Intel Skylake 3.3GHz Xeon V5 quad-core processors with 3.3GHz and come with 8GB DDR4 ECC memory. Should you require more memory, then you’re able to upgrade them all the way up to 64GB ECC memory. The series comes with a single 8GB RAM module which means you won’t have a dual-channel setup unless you add another module, bit it also eliminates the leftover modules when you add a whole new set.
With room for 4 drives, the N4910 PRO can provide up to 40TB internal storage with the latest 10TB HDDs, but the system is also fully compatible with modern SATA3 SSDs. Natively, the NAS comes with two RJ-45 10/100/1000 BASE-TX Auto MDI/MDI-X ports, but it can be upgraded with a two-port 10Gbps NIC to provide even better throughput.
There are two basic models of this NAS and the only difference between the two is the power supply. The S model comes with a single standard power supply while the R model offers a redundant power supply.
Naturally, the system is powered by Thecus’ own operating system, Thecus OS 7. It comes with a great list of built-in features as well as a long list of third-party apps to install. It’s also protected by the bundled Intel Security and Acronis True Image. Businesses will also love the Btrfs file format with its snapshot technology, among other things.
