Thecus launched two new SAS-enabled Rackmount NAS servers called the N12910SAS and N16910SAS. The N12910SAS is a 12-bay unit while the N16910SAS is a 16-bay NAS and both offer massive scalability and fast speeds alike thanks to both the 12Gbps SAS interface and being 10 GbE ready.
The N12910SAS and N16910SAS NAS are both equipped with an Intel Skylake Xeon E3-1245 v5 3.5G Hz quad-core Processor and come with 16GB DDR4 ECC RAM which can be expanded up to 64G. DDR4 memory is great in servers such as these as it brings both a higher performance, but also more robust control features and lower power consumption.
Scalability and speed are key features for these two new NAS systems. They both come with native support for SAS drives, allowing users to experience the superior HDD performance that 12Gbps SAS drives bring along. These new models are also 10GbE ready and support High Availability for system redundancy. On top of that, the units also deploy Daisy Chaining technology which offers connections of up to four additional D16000s that in return can offer users storage capacities of up to 800TB.
Whether you want to use the PCIe slots to expand with 10GbE network cards, USB controllers, or NVMe storage is up to you and your needs – it’s all supported.
The new NAS’ naturally run on the latest ThecusOS 7.0, providing an optimized and feature-rich platform with an intuitive user interface and easy navigation. Key new features include Photo Station, Thecus App Center, and File Center. ThecusOS 7.0 is a big step up from the previous versions and a great OS that offers both flexibility and performance.
Availability is set for the end of October, so that could be any day now.
