Thecus OS 6, Intelligent NAS & Power Consumption

Thecus’ Intelligent NAS is a software utility that has been developed to work in coalition with a small selection of Thecus SOHO systems in order to make the setup and use of the associated system much easier and less daunting for the novice user. After connecting up and installing the drives into the system, once turned on the Intelligent NAS software (which can be downloaded from here: install.thecus.com) scans the local network for the NAS and once ready, takes you through the basic setup stages.

During setup the software gives you the option to allow the system to select the best RAID configuration for your needs, or to manually select the configuration (if you want to use RAID0 or have two individual volumes to hand)

After the system has set itself up, you get the option to create a Thecus ID for accessing the system from outside the local network. Alternatively this step can be skipped after which you are taken to the OS6 dashboard.

The OS6 dashboard as seen below is that same as that as we have seen on a few other systems of late. The simple interface is relatively easy to work around and offers up a good selection of features for the basic users needs.

Power Consumption

The use of the low power SoC is a major advantage for the N2310’s power consumption. Topping out at under 20W, even with the enterprise class drives that we use in our testing, the N2310’s running costs are competitively low for its class.
