Thecus OS & Power Consumption

Compared to some of the Thecus systems that we’ve looked at more recently, the Eco is using one of Thecus’ older user interfaces and whilst this dies allow for all the major functionality that we would expect from a NAS, it is not quite as user intuitive as the more recent revisions. In addition to usability there is not as much flexibility on offer when it comes to add-ons such a XMBC for example.

Power Consumption

N4800Eco_Chart_Power

Although I have reviewed the N4200, back then power consumption was not a metric that I took note of so unfortunately I am not able to confirm nor deny if the power consumption is 20% better off. That said though I have seen power figures for the older N4800 on which this is built and after updating the processor we are seeing power figures that are around half that of before – if this is anything to go by then we might be in the right ball park here.
