The Thecus N5810PRO NAS Features a Built-In UPS

It’s common knowledge that most electronic devices are vulnerable to power outages, particularly when it comes to storage devices. Conventional network-attached storage solutions are definitely not equipped to handle sudden power losses, and as a result, they sometimes end up losing important data thus setting back projects or even forcing users to start the same project all over again. In order to make sure that this would not happen with its products, Thecus announced its N5810PRO NAS, which boasts a built-in mini-UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).

In the event of a sudden power loss, the UPS can keep the device running for up to 30 seconds, and should power be restored in that time frame, operations can continue normally as if nothing happened. However, if power is not restored in time, the NAS shuts down normally while making sure that no data is lost in the process. Aside from the Lithium-ion USB battery (14.4V 2000mAH 28.8Wh), the Thecus N5810PRO NAS also features 5 LAN ports, and it is powered by an Intel Celeron quad-core J1900 processor.

The implementation of UPS in Thecus’ new NAS is definitely a step in the right direction, but it’s worth keeping in mind that even these batteries can fail sometimes.
