With a name such as Le Grande Macho, the latest flagship cooler revealed by Thermalright has a lot to live up to. Also known as Grand Macho, it actually represents an improved version of the original Macho, and it comes with an off-center aluminium fin tower design that includes a series of odd-shaped fins enveloped around the base. Thermalright also implemented an additional heatpipe for a total of seven, which is still one less when compared to the brand’s HR22 model. Grand Macho is able to passively cool processors with up to 95W TDP, while its pair of 120 mm fans allow it to tackle up to up to 300W TDP without any issues.
Even though the tower is off-center, its fin stack has a series of cutouts that ensure DIMM clearance on both sides. This feature should come in handy for those who are planning to build PCs based on LGA2011/v3, as these builds have DIMM slots on both sides of the CPU socket. Measuring in at 150 mm x 120 mm x 159 mm, the Grand Macho by Thermalright weighs 900g, which is a bit much, and it comes with an eye-catching matte-black top-fin.
No word on pricing or availability just yet, but it’s probably safe to say that this cooler won’t be exactly cheap, at least as far as air coolers are concerned.
