Thermaltake 420mm TOUGHLIQUID 420 EX Pro ARGB Sync AIO Cooler Review

Thermaltake has one of the best names in the business when it comes to AIO coolers, and while I’ve reviewed hundreds of coolers over the years here at eTeknix, there’s a reason why I have a 420mm AIO liquid cooler from Thermaltake in my own computer that I use for all my work and gaming; because they’re freaking awesome, that’s why. However, as much as I think their coolers, and I think they’re the best on the market right now, Thermaltake think they can do even better with the release of the long-named Thermaltake 420mm TOUGHLIQUID 420 EX Pro ARGB Sync.

Thermaltake 420mm TOUGHLIQUID 420 EX Pro ARGB Sync

This new cooler builds on their previous model, with the same 420mm radiator design, but a newly designed pump, with an improved 360-degree rotational cap, and a new murdered-out all-black look (excluding the RGB). However, the biggest change comes with the fans, which are now their flagship 140mm Gen.2 Hydraulic Bearing TOUGHFAN EX14 Pro fans, which operate at 500 to 2000 RPM, and come with a daisy chain magnetic locking system, meaning you only need a single cable to hook up all three fans on this cooler.

Features

  • Thermaltake TOUGHLIQUID 420 EX Pro ARGB Sync All-In-One Liquid Cooler – TOUGHLIQUID 420 EX Pro introduces a new all-black industrial cap with an infinity mirror light design, adding a fresh look to the TOUGHLIQUID series. The AIO is equipped with three high-performance TOUGHFAN EX14 Pro fans, the TOUGHLIQUID 420 EX Pro provides a better PC building experience with the new MagForce 2.0, allowing you to snap the fans together more quickly and ensures a steadier connection!
  • New Series Aligned – The TOUGHLIQUID EX Pro Series comes in different models, with the TOUGHLIQUID 240/360 EX Pro utilizing 120mm fans and the TOUGHLIQUID 280/420 EX Pro using 140mm fans. Indeed, we have a model that suits your build.
  • New Version, New Design – The TOUGHLIQUID EX Pro Series adapts the new industrial look to freshen up the 360-degree rotational cap, but we’ve opted for an all-black colour to distinguish it from the TH Series. Adding Infinity Mirror Lighting to this series can bring more diverse visual effects to the build and give more depth than it looks.
  • Steady Connection with MagForce 2.0 – Evolved from SWAFAN EX’s Magnetic Force Design, the new MagForce 2.0 Pogo pin contact pads are TWO times larger for greater tolerance. This enhancement significantly reduces the potential faulty alignment no matter you are daisy-chaining fans together or connecting fans with cable, further boosting the installation efficiency and streamlining the building experience.
  • Say Goodbye to Excessive Cables – Connect your fans with TOUGFAN EX Pro’s MagForce 2.0 Quick Connect Design and be free from messy cables!
  • Redesigned Fan Blade for Better Performance – The TOUGHFAN EX Pro features a redesigned 9-fan blade structure crafted from Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP), providing an airflow of 119.6 CFM and 3.57 mm-H2O while maintaining a 31.6 dB-A noise level.
  • Enhanced Cooling Surface with A Compact Design – The TOUGHLIQUID EX Pro Series has a 27mm slim radiator with a thickened 20mm copper chamber, ensuring the same easy installation but with even better cooling performance.
  • Keep it COLD with Copper – The high-performance copper base plate accelerates heat conductivity. The high-quality and reliable pump enables maximum water circulation, keeping the copper plate continuously cool. The low evaporation tube effectively decreases the loss of coolant; therefore, no refill is required.
  • Any CPU Can Be the Right CPU – The package includes brackets for the latest Intel and AMD CPU sockets to be compatible with the most modern CPU platforms, including the latest Intel LGA1700 and AMD AM5 CPUs.
