How Much Does it Cost?

The Thermaltake AH T200 Snow Edition Micro-ATX PC Case is available now from most major retailers. It’s currently priced at around £150 on Scan. That’s a lot of money. However, there’s a lot of materials in this case. It uses a lot of thick and heavy steel, thicker paint than most cases, thicker glass (and more of it) than most. All these things add up, and if you’re buying cases by the KG (not that you would), you’re getting decent value here.

Overview

When I reviewed the Thermaltake AH T600, this cases’ much bigger brother, I said, “I hate this PC case, I really do, and the reasons are many. Firstly, the size of it is just obnoxious. It’s like someone is playing a joke with the size of it. If I put it on my desk, it would break my desk and hang about 18 inches over the front edge. If I put it under my desk, my chair wouldn’t fit, and it would still stick out by 18 inches or so.” and it seems Thermaltake was listening. Now it’s only a bit too big to go on top of my desk, a bit too heavy, and while smaller, too oddly shaped to go under my desk; not to mention it would get too much dust there.

Seriously, this is a BIG case for an mATX model—likely one of the largest out there in fact. Compared to the T600 though, this thing is a baby, it’s a heavy case, but while the T600 was a real backbreaker, this is merely inconveniently heavy and a bit cumbersome due to its shape.

OK, so it’s less big but still big. It’s still completely bonkers and it has a fairly impractical design with virtually no cable hiding/management solutions. It has absolutely no dust filters. Actually, the gaps are so big, they wouldn’t even filter out a curious cat. It’s designed loosely on a helicopter, which I presume was once in a horrific accident at some point. HOWEVER, that doesn’t detract from one very important thing… It’s really cool!

It’s just so bonkers that it actually works. I have no room for it in my house, it just isn’t the case for me. However, I can absolutely see the market for it. You only have to look on PC Master Race for a few minutes to know someone will have this tricked out in LEDs, water-cooled, and put on a stunning natural wood/white desk, next to a small cactus. For that market, Thermaltake has absolutely nailed it here. I’m sticking with the Innovation Award I gave the T600 too, as it’s really not like other cases, and we need more unique and risky ideas!
