Thermaltake ARGENT E700 Real Leather Gaming Chair Review

Thermaltake is no stranger to making all sorts of products, from coolers to memory, even to chairs. This is a market that a good deal of hardware and gaming-focused companies seem to be branching out into. Companies such as Logitech, Razer and even Corsair have all previously released office chairs. But Thermaltake thought that all of these chairs have one thing in common, none of them look enough like a car.

Enter the ARGENT E700, a chair that was designed in collaboration with Studio F. A. Porsche. Yes, that Porsche. Something you may not know is that Porsche has a design studio that works on many products, ranging from the chair we’re looking at today all the way to doors and fences and even capsule filling machines for medication. Some of the things that they have worked on come as a bit of a shock, but a gaming chair actually makes some sense; being tied to Porsche means the obvious connection to cars, and cars obviously have seats, so they have experience with designing those. And then when we look at gaming chairs, there has always been the influence from racing chairs that you would find in high-end cars, like those made by Porsche.

So the connections are there, and the collaboration here has some justification, at least on paper. Where things get a little strange is the design of the chair, it’s designed to be like a car, not just a car seat. This is true even down to car door handles being used on the chair for whatever reason. The question I hope to answer is pretty simple, does the aesthetic design take focus away from comfort and ergonomics? Because if this is the case then this chair would be pretty pointless, so join me in a detailed look at this rather strange chair.

What Thermaltake Had To Say

The ARGENT E700 introduces a highly ergonomic synchro-tilt-mechanism with diverse adjustment options that perfectly supports the user’s body. All functions are cleverly integrated into a unique design. High-quality materials such as genuine leather and finely processed aluminium parts offer the player maximum comfort and style. The ARGENT E700 combines the best of both worlds – the aesthetics of a racing bucket seat with the functionality and elegance of a modern lounge or office chair.
