Thermaltake Challenger Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Thermaltake Challenger Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo is available now. While it has an MSRP of around £30, it can easily be fairly cheap from most major retailers. I suspect this will prove to be a popular bundle item for sales. The sort of thing they give you when you buy a PC or other hardware to sweeten the deal, and that’s ideal for it really. However, on its own, getting change from £30 makes it damn near pocket money friendly. For younger gamers, and those on a tighter budget, it’s a bit of a bargain.

Overview

The latest keyboard and mouse bundle from Thermaltake was never going to set the world on fire. However, it was never intended to either. What it won’t do is set your wallet on fire, and I can appreciate that. I’ve tried a bunch of these cheaper bundles over the years, and it’s amazing how far they’ve come. Even the Thermaltake Commander Combo from a few years back is laughable compared to what you get today for the same money. A much better performing mouse, a much better quality keyboard with a lot more features, and better lighting; that’s an upgrade Thermaltake can be proud of.

Gaming

eSports champions may not be lining up for this one, let’s be honest. However, at-home gamers are going to find it more than sufficient. Playing a bit of Minecraft, some Borderlands 2, Fortnite, and anything else really, it feels just fine. It has anti-ghosting and rollover. It has Windows lock and some other multimedia controls. It’s more than up to the job of gaming. Plus, the mouse is a pleasant surprise too, it’s comfortable, nimble, and the sensor is plenty competitive too.

Should I Buy One?

Honestly, if you’re looking for a keyboard and mouse for £30, you’re not going to find anything better than this. You can certainly find a lot worse though, looking through eBay and Amazon at the “brand no one ever heard of” Gamer garbage. Thermaltake is a well-known brand name, and they’ve delivered a stylish and affordable gaming bundle for those on a tighter budget; they’ll get no complaints from me for that.
