Thermaltake Commander MS-I Snow Edition Mid-Tower Chassis Review

The monochrome styling that Thermaltake have adopted follows on the inside of this case and makes things really pop out. The motherboard conforms to ATX and Micro ATX standards and has a slight lip at the bottom between the motherboard tray and PSU location. There are several cut-outs for cable management as well as space to get to the CPU backplate.

The other side of the case reveals the cut-outs in a bit more detail. We also get a first view into the cable management side of things to see what space is available when tucking cables out of the way.

There are a total of three 5.25″ optical drive bays of which two come included with a tool-less installation through use of Thermaltake locking mechanisms. We do find it strange however, that only two bays come with the locking mechanisms but space for a third one is present.

Looking further down at the storage bays, we find a total of seven 3.5″ drive bays of which three come included with locking mechanisms for 3.5″ drive bays and one with a locking fixture for an FDD of some variety or even a internal card reader or multifunctional bay panel.

Taking a look at the expansion bays, there are a total of seven bay panels which require you to unscrew a panel from the outside before they are released. Ventilation is sadly at a minimum and we would have much preferred each panel to include a ventilated cut-out like the top panel has.

Your power supply is installed at the bottom and a removable dust filter is included. Just next to this is space for a further dust filter if you have a larger power supply, or a 120mm fan if you prefer to get extra ventilation.

A 120mm blue LED fan is pre-installed into the rear of the case to exhaust hot air out of the case. It includes a 3-pin fan header, allowing it to be installed onto your motherboard with ease. If you wish to use another form of installation, you will need to purchase an adapter such as a 3-pin to Molex adapter separately.
