Thermaltake CT140 ARGB (Black & White) Fans Review

A Closer Look

The fans themselves look great, with a really robust frame design that’s fully squared out and has filled-in corners. This is important, as it means these fans will be well suited to be mounted on radiators, as the air can’t get past the fan shroud and instead has to go through the fan, giving them higher air pressure.

The corners have anti-vibration mounts, which are more designed to prevent the screw from touching the plastic than the fan from touching the case. They pass right through and the rubber is on both sides of the fan.

The fan blades are a milky white, with the ARGB LEDs built into the central section facing outwards. Of course, that means the light will glow out from the middle and be diffused by the milky plastic of the fan blades.

The fans are quite thick, and again those smooth side walls are designed to sit flush against the fan next to it, and also to cover the edges of a radiator or case fan mount, ensuring air doesn’t leak past the fan. The sides of the fans have directional arrows to show the flow direction too.

Around the back, all cables are black with black connectors, so they’ll blend in well enough.

Each fan comes with its own extension cables for both the PWM fan header, as well as the 5V RGB connector. There are both short and long screws included for each too.

The white fans look fantastic too, and I love that Thermaltake has paid close attention to the details here. Both the black and white fans use the same grey anti-vibration pads, so that matches up.

However, they’ve ensured the white fans come with all-white cables and connectors; it’s surprising how many white fans have black cables!

Overall though, black or white, the fans are the same hardware, so let’s get them on the testing rig and see what they can do!
