Thermaltake CTE E600 MX Mid Tower Case Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Thermaltake CTE E600 MX is available now on Amazon, but the prices are double the MSRP for some reason, so I am not even going to link those. However, you can get it at Scan.co.uk with an MSRP of £199.99, however, at the time of writing the black version was on sale at just £179.99, while the Hydrangea Blue and the Snow Edition were still £199.99. That’s not cheap, but this is a very big case, it comes with two front panels, a riser cable and much more, so you’re getting good value for money overall. You can check for up-to-date stock and prices here.

Overview

I really like this case, but it’s certainly not going to appeal to a lot of people. That’s not because it isn’t a very desirable and great quality case, but simply because it is quite a lot of money for a case, and it’s also pretty freaking huge. Honestly, it’s 15KG before you load it up, and throw in some high-end hardware, and you can triple that without much trouble. For placing it on your desk, you’ll want firstly a strong desk, but also a rather large desk. Putting it on the floor is fine too, but with it being designed to display hardware as well as it does, it almost defeats the purpose to put it somewhere you’re less likely to be able to see it.

The price, again, is a lot, but when you add up the overall material cost and the dual tempered glass windows, the cost of a high-quality riser cable, it really isn’t any more expensive than buying a case of a similar size, then buying those additional components, such as you can do with the Corsair D-series cases or the latest Fractal Design ones. That being said, those are also the two biggest competitors for the CTE E600 EX, but it’s fair to say that Thermaltake has the features and design nailed down to rival anything else on the market easily enough.

The cooling capabilities of this case are exceptional though, and having that rotated motherboard tray means you can mount up to 14 fans in this case, or multiple 420mm radiators for extreme cooling performance. I do like that you can mount a 420mm in the front or on the side panel too, meaning you’re not losing a cooling mount should you desire to install the glass front panel. Being able to mount 3 x 140mm fan in the back that would bring cool air right into the GPU fans is awesome too, and the whole thing exhausts at the top, which just makes sense as heat rises anyway.

Should I Buy One?

Measure your space twice, because this case is an absolute beast, and maybe consider something else if you have a weak back as it’s rather heavy too. However, sure you have the space and the spine for it, the Thermaltake CTE E600 MX is an exceptional PC case, that will easily support the largest power supply, motherboard, coolers, and graphics cards with room to spare, with more airflow and cooling potential than you’ll know what to do with.
