Thermaltake Floe Riing 240 AIO Liquid Cooler Review

Final Thoughts

Pricing

The Thermaltake Floe Riing RGB 240mm AIO Liquid Cooler is a premium product and comes at a premium price. In the US, you can pick one up for around $150. However, in the UK it’s around £113. I strongly recommend you check for stock and prices though, as I have seen stock near £170, and a bit of Google-Fu will find you one for around £120 from a known retailer.

Overview

Without a doubt, the Thermaltake Floe Riing 240 is one of the best coolers on the market today. I’m a big fan of Noctua air coolers, but the Floe Riing certainly put up a respectable fight to the flagship Noctua D15. It runs impressively cool at stock and overclocked levels, and provides peace of mind for those running a hot CPU for extended periods. Not only was it nice and cool, but it was also incredibly quiet.

A Big Improvement

I used to use a lot of Water 3.0 coolers from Thermaltake and if I’m being honest, they’re trash compared to their new model. The older fans were cheap looking and feeling, prone to failure and quite noisy too. Their latest fans are pretty much as good as fans get, and run huge amounts of airflow with minimal noise. Not only that, they look much better right out of the box. Of course, with the Riing RGB lighting, they look even better still. Everything from the cable sleeving to the rubber shock mounts is a huge improvement on previous models.

RGB and Plenty of It

Part of the premium price tag is obviously to deliver the Riing RGB lighting. With 16.8 Million colours at your disposal, you’re going to be able to find your favourite colour with ease. At least, unless your favourite colour happens to live in the 10-bit colour pallet, which is unlikely the case. Having fully addressable LEDs on the ring around each fan, as well as on the pump, means you can customise like crazy. The pre-installed effects are likely enough for most users, but for modders, that extensive customisation is a welcome benefit.

Another part of the cost is the fan/lighting hub. With the hub, you can hook up all your fans and their respective LED lighting systems with ease. What’s even cooler is that you can bridge multiple hubs, and extend your lighting setup. If you’re planning on running Riing RGB fans throughout your chassis, as well as on your cooler, this is a great feature. Sure, that’s going to get expensive pretty quick, but no more so that similarly equipped products from any of Thermaltake’s rivals.

Should I Buy One

I highly recommend this cooler, and I don’t feel that way too often about AIOs these days. There are a lot on the market to pick from, and the Floe is on the upper end of the price ranges for most consumers cooling needs. However, the investment does get you two of the best RGB fans on the market, a sleek overall design, incredible performance, and more. This is easily one of the best AIOs on the market right now.

Pros

  • Impressive cooling performance
  • Extremely quiet fans
  • Whisper quiet pump
  • Fully addressable RGB LED lighting
  • Easy to use software for customisation and monitoring
  • Includes fan/lighting control hub
  • Control hub can be bridged to expand setup
  • Easy to install

Cons

  • None

Neutral

  • Stock and prices seem both sporadic and erratic, but hopefully, this will improve in the near future.
