Thermaltake Frio Advanced CPU Cooler Review

We repeated the testing procedures with our Intel Core i7 2600K CPU overclocked to 4.4GHz using a BIOS voltage of 1.240V which crept up to a maximum of 1.288V under load conditions. We must remind you that we have discovered our processor runs slightly hotter than usual, but seeing as all tests use the same CPU, the results aren’t biased.
Add a hefty 1GHz overclock into the mix accompanied by a decent voltage bump and the order of results start to change. Compared to the Frio Advanced, the cheaper Venom Voodoo is left trailing with a 3.6°C performance deficit while the more expensive Havik 140 is out of sight with a 16% hotter CPU temperature result. The £53 Silver Arrow yet again proves a formidable opponent with an 8% lead over the Frio Advanced. What is most definitely worth mentioning though is the fact that gap between the Frio Advanced and Noctua’s popular NH-D14 has closed completely. Thermaltake’s £15 cheaper Frio Advanced manages to beat the performance of Noctua’s £65 flagship dual tower cooler, the D14, while still existing in a far more conveniently sized form factor.
