Thermaltake Frio Advanced CPU Cooler Review

While situated in a room where background noise was kept to a minimum, we placed the sound level meter equal distances from our test system to measure the total noise output by the complete test system for each cooling configuration at 100% fan speed.
Sporting a pair of 2,000 RPM fans, Thermaltake’s Frio Advanced is never going to be the quietest of cooling solutions at 100% fan speed. Only the Cooler Master V6GT and Corsair H80 are louder, while the H100 matches the acoustic output of the Frio Advanced. The closely competitive Noctua NH-D14 is significantly quieter but doesn’t feature PWM fans like the Frio Advanced, meaning it doesn’t have the potential to perform any quieter without sacrificing load cooling performance. The Silver Arrow offers the lowest acoustic output of the compared coolers while also offering excellent cooling performance.
