Thermaltake Level 20 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Performance

Powered up, the TT Level 20 sparks to life with a truly dazzling array of RGB. I mean, unless you REALLY love lots of RGB, these enough here to make a person dizzy. Personally, I think it looks fantastic, although leaving it on RGB rainbow effects all day would be a bit fatiguing, but no one does that, right?

The edge lighting is stunning though, and it’s like adding an underlight kit to a car. In a dark room, it adds a warm glow to your whole desk.

There’s absolutely loads of preset lighting modes too, but if you really wanted to, you can create as many of your own as you desire. It’s fully addressable, so you can dial in zones, colours, brightness, effects and more to suit your taste. Me, I would set the whole damn thing to purple and leave it, but that’s just me, and that’s the joy of RGB; choice!

Mid-Lighting

As I said before, the RGB lighting even runs through the middle of the keyboard. I quite like this actually, I was worried it would be too much. However, the rest of the keyboard is excessive, so this seems to just fit the theme nicely.

Work and Gaming

I know I’ve remarked that this is a big keyboard, but honestly, that’s not really a bad thing. It still feels very comfortable to work with, despite the size, and if anything it doesn’t feel big while you’re typing. It still sits at a comfortable height, and the key caps are set floating at a slightly different angle to the actual chassis. Overall, it’s easy going on the wrists, and the MX Speed switches are so light and fast, it certainly won’t slow you down any.

I can’t say this keyboard feels unique or dynamic to work on, as it doesn’t. That’s a good thing though, as when it comes to Cherry MX switches, you know exactly what to expect, and that’s exactly what you get here. The performance is every bit as exact as it should be. The keyboard is exactly the sum of its parts. That being said, the sturdy aluminium top panel does reduce any general vibration through the keyboard while mashing at the keys. Overall, the whole thing feels tight and well planted.

Overall, one of the most visual distinctive keyboards we’ve seen in absolutely ages. Every feature you could ask for, and then a few more for good measure thrown into the mix!

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
