With that this is a non-modular 500w power supply, you are clearly going to want to make sure that it outputs the power in a good and effective way. In this regard, the Thermaltake Smart RGB gives us no concerns. In testing across all rails very little deviancy was found, which is clearly a good thing. If anything, the power supply was remarkable consistent particularly on the +12v rail which is one of the most important.
In terms of voltage regulation, this has given more than acceptable results.
While the Thermaltake Smart RGB 500w is 80-Plus rated, it is not bronze certified. As such, in terms of efficiency, as long as it achieves over 80% it passes the grade. In power supply terms, this is setting the bar reasonably low by modern standard.
In terms of the results we saw though, this did actually meet the requirements for a bronze rating by a comfortable margin. It does, perhaps, sail a little too close to the wind to outright declare itself bronze, but at least in the results, we have seen we wouldn’t have been able to find fault with it if it did.
The PFC ratings for the Thermaltake Smart RGB 500w are a little unusual. This is, however, in a good way. Usually, we expect to see them start low, get high and go back down again at full load. In this instance though, the power supply just kept getting better the more the power was applied. This is definitely a big plus mark for this PSU.
