The Thermaltake Riing Silent 12 CPU cooler is available from Amazon.com for a very reasonable $39.99, which is incredibly competitive given the design, cooling and acoustic performance on offer; it’s certainly a deal that’s very hard to beat.
Overview
Thermaltake live up to the thermal part of their name today, showing that they really know how to make a great CPU cooler that’s simply hard to fault. Not only did it keep our CPU temperatures well within an acceptable margin, even while overclocking, it managed to keep the fan noise to a minimum. This is great news, as it means you could easily increase the fan RPM for extra performance if you needed it, or dial back the RPM to get even quieter performance, especially if you’re only using mild overclocks or a stock clocks CPU.
The build quality is very good, but the real star of the show is that lovely Riing LED fan, which really completes the aesthetics and gives you a way of adding an extra touch of style to your system build. Given that the fans are around $15 each on their own, you could also easily match the cooler and its fan with the rest of your system fans for a fairly reasonable price.
Installing the cooler was simple enough, nothing too technical and easily done even for those with little experience in upgrading or installing a cooler. The inclusion of a tube of thermal paste is also welcome, as it means you can get multiple applications of the cooler without having to invest in more paste, keeping long-term maintenance costs down.

“The Thermaltake Riing is one of the best low-to-mid budget air coolers on the market today. It’s stylish, easy to work with, doesn’t conflict with your motherboard/RAM, and it does a great job of keeping your CPU running cool and quiet.”
