Thermaltake Smart RGB 600W Power Supply Review

How Much Does It Cost?

At the time of writing, the Thermaltake Smart RGB 600w power supply retails for a price in the region of £45. However, it’s also around $50 in the US.

In terms of what you get for this power supply, this is clearly excellent value. Not only are you getting a decent amount of power, but you’re getting it delivered cleanly and at a much higher efficiency rating than the packaging would suggest.

Additionally, you got those RGB lights which, to date, Thermaltake remains the only company (that I’m aware of) that does this for power supplies.

Performance

For the price point that this power supply is released at, you could be forgiven thinking that it is best avoided. The results, however, clearly show that this is not the case.

The Thermaltake Smart RGB 600w performed exceptionally well in all of our testing. In fact, in terms of efficiency rating, our testing found results much higher than those indicated on the box.

This is, however, good news for you. If this was officially rated as Bronze, Thermaltake could easily slap another £10-£20 on the price.

Practicality & Functionality

As this is a 600w power supply, it should more than suitable for the vast majority of ‘standard’ gaming PCs. You are, of course, always recommended to do a little maths on your system before getting a power supply, but 600w is more than enough for a modern processor and power supply.

The Thermaltake Smart RGB 600w clearly has the punch to do the job you ask of it and even a little wiggle room when required. In addition, those RGB lights are a nice touch that adds more than a little icing to the cake!

Don’t forget as well that 5-year guarantee! – If, on top of everything else, that doesn’t tip the scales for you, then nothing will!

Should I Buy One?

At the time of writing I would struggle to name another power supply that performs anywhere near as well as this for the same price. Well, I could, but it would only probably be another Thermaltake design.
