Thermaltake SWAFAN EX12 RGB Magnetic Connection Fans Review

Packaging & Accessories

The box actually looks pretty much the same as the old model, with a nice photo of the fan, and its main features details no the side, such as the magnetic connection and swappable fan blades.

Around the back, there’s a nice demonstration of some of the configurations, such as adding more than three fans to the configuration, dasi-chain, and changeable airflow direction.

All the boring stuff is here too, such as voltages, fan speeds, etc, which are all detailed here too.

Opening the box, there’s a more durable inner box that slides out. I love how cleanly everything has been packed here, no wasted space at all. Three fans, three extra fan blades on top of that, and a component box on the left.

The fans are protected with foam on the side, and little foam inserts to protect each fan blade in transit.

The component box is packed with cables, screws, ties, and a control hub.

There are three magnetic cables, so you can hook up each of the three fans individually if needed. The fans come with both long and short screws too.

File this under “What will my parents think if they find this” but really it’s just grease for the fan motor.

There’s a fan control hub, power cable, sync cable and USB cable included too, all pretty standard stuff though.

The hub can handle up to five fans, but there are jumper switches allowing you to have up to 16 hubs in sequence, seriously, 16 hubs with 5 fans each, that’s 80 fans… not quite sure why, but you could do it.

The fans use the standard TT header, and while I normally do not like proprietary connectors, having PWM fan control and ARGB cables as one cable actually is rather nice.
