Thermaltake TH280 V2 Ultra EX ARGB Sync AIO Cooler Review

Performance

This is a high-end and premium cooler that doesn’t come cheap, so as you might expect, it does deliver on performance in a big way. Of course, we wouldn’t expect anything less from one of the flagship products from Thermaltake. It made easy work of the i9-12900K (one of the hottest running CPUs on the market), coming in at just 84c under full all-core load.

Using our optimised settings, which see our Intel Core i9-12900K using fixed clock speeds of 4.9 GHz on all P-Cores and 4 GHz on all of the E-Cores, but with an undervolting of 1.3v, we usually see both increased performance and lower temperatures. In this test, the TX280 V2 Ultra EX ARGB AIO ran at just 71c at full load, putting it on par with many other high-end coolers.

What’s great to see is that while the performance is overall pretty consistent, so too are the acoustics, with the cooler idling at around 34 dBa and only pushing to 44 dBa, putting it on par with incredible coolers from be quiet!, Arctic, Noctua, and Corsair.

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
