Over Power Protection and Max Wattage

Although power supplies have a stated wattage output, this is only the amount to which they are rated. In theory, they should be able to perform beyond this to a comfortable margin of (user) error. If you do, however, push it too hard, then the overpower protection should kick in. Specifically, to stop it either blowing up or (in more dramatic circumstances) setting your PC on fire.

With this in mind, it’s all good news here! Achieving nearly 1000 watts (around 25% higher than the rated level) the protections kicked in and worked perfectly.
