Over Power Protection and Max Wattage

As you may be aware, power supplies have a rated level of wattage they can output. There is, however, always a little ‘wiggle’ room above that. You don’t, of course, want to use this and you should always purchase a power supply that suits your system. If you do, however, push it too hard, it’s important to know that the over power protection will kick in to not only save your power supply from blowing up, but also any potential damage to your components.

So, in regards to the Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 ARGB, how did it do? Well, the short answer is, really well. The power supply was able to achieve 122 watts over its rated level before the protections successfully kicked in.
