Thermaltake Toughpower GX1 600W Power Supply Review

Over Power Protection and Max Wattage

When it comes to power supplies, while they may have a certified rated amount, there is nearly always a little extra wiggle room they can offer. This is there to ensure that if your system does occasionally require a little more, the power supply isn’t going to start panicking!

In terms of our testing, we can first confirm that the overpower protections did work. This is good as if you are asking too much from it, it will shut the system down before any damage occurs. Achieving over 180 watts above the rated level, however, it is much larger than you might expect. With a near 25% ‘overhead’ if 600 watts isn’t enough for your system, in unusual circumstances, the Thermaltake Toughpower GX1 can cope with plenty more!
