Thermaltake Toughpower GX1 600W Power Supply Review

How Much Does It Cost?

The Thermaltake Toughpower GX1 retails for a price in the region of £65.99 ($79.99). This, in terms of gold-rated efficiency power supplies, is already something of a bargain and with its 600-watt output, should be a highly attractive proposition for someone looking for a solid reliable power supply.

Admittedly, some consumers would prefer a modular design, but they generally come at a significantly higher price. Particularly when they perform on levels comparative to this!

Performance

This power supply performed excellently across all of our tests and, quite frankly, we’d expect nothing less from a Thermaltake product carrying the Toughpower branding.

A particular highlight was the efficiency testing in which it was clearly demonstrated that this definitely deserves its gold-rated certification with it providing a hugely comfortable margin over the necessarily level. This power supply is almost as good as platinum, and that says a lot about the level of design Thermaltake has put into this.

Practicality & Functionality

Aesthetically, Thermaltake always takes a more ‘business’ approach when it comes to the Toughpower range. You’ll not find a lot in terms of ‘bells and whistles’ to grab your attention. That is, however, exactly the point they want to make.

The Thermaltake Toughpower GX1 has been designed as a no-nonsense gold-rated power supply for those who want the confidence in a product to run, be efficiency, and protect their systems.

Should I Buy One?

For the price this retails at, the Thermaltake Toughpower GX1 600W is a great power supply. It has the perfect powerpoint for the vast majority of gaming systems while providing high (and efficient) levels of performance that, in truth, would probably exceed the vast majority of consumers expectations. Not us though, we know Thermaltake well!

Admittedly, a non-modular design isn’t for everyone. Then again, Thermaltake gives you everything you need here with very little to waste. Could you honestly say you couldn’t hook up your gaming PC to this power supply? – We doubt it!

Taking this power supply as a whole, this is a fantastic option for those looking for a solid, reliable power supply while offering a level of performance well exceeding the pricetag!
