As we have come to expect with Thermaltake, the packaging is fantastic. On the front, you will find a nice large clear image of the power supply as well the as the RGB lighting in full flow. In addition to this, you will also find all the key points which include the fully-modular design, RGB lighting, the Smart Power Management and the highly reassuring 10-year warranty.
You will also find the 80-Plus Titanium status on display. Just in case you had forgotten that this is a high-performing power supply.
The rear of the packaging is equally good. Not only do you get a full list of the features you also get a detailed insight into the power management software. More so, you get the full specification on how the power is allocated and even a picture description of the cables that are provided. Thermaltake really are great at their packaging!
When you open it up, you’ll find everything is fantastically organised. You have your instruction manual and warranty information, your cables all neatly kept inside a branded canvas bag and, of course, the power supply itself which isn’t only kept safe in cushioned packaging but also has a sleave to prevent any scratches in transit.
Just for a closer look at the cabling pack. It isn’t unusual for fully-modular power supplies to give you something to keep the cables in. It is, however, rare that you’ll find a bag this nicely made. Yes, it is only designed to hold the cables, but the branding looks nice and gives you a fantastic place to safely store any cables you don’t need today, but might need tomorrow.
As this is a 1250w power supply, it is rather large and heavy. That isn’t unusual and shouldn’t be off-putting. What is of particular note, other than the branding, is the excellent ventilation on offer here. At this power supply is designed to run passively having a good standard air flow is very important. In this regard, Thermaltake has clearly attempted to allow as much air to run naturally through this without the utilisation of the fan. No fan running means no noise!
The rear of the power supply is again nicely ventilated. This doesn’t have a hybrid mode so you’ll only find the power input and the on/off switch. The switch itself is quite satisfyingly large and who can ignore that fantastically bold but understated branding Thermaltake has put on the side.
As this is a fully modular power supply with a large power output, as you would expect you have plenty of options for hooking up your components. I’m actually not certain I have seen a power supply with so many outputs. There are 8 x 8-pin PCIe outputs and 6 x 6-pin SATA outputs. That is way more than I am accustomed to. This is a 1250w Titanium rated power supply though.
Given this, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t be able to hook up everything you have in your system here. If it had another 24 pin ATX adaptor you could probably hook up 2 PCs worth of connections and still have spares!
The interior design of the power supply is fantastically presented. All componants are well spaced which should help with the passive air flow. The basic idea is that the more space there is between parts the cooler they can run. It’s simple, but true. There are very few cables on display and those that are are well managed and do not look out of place.
As the box suggested, we can confirm that this power supply does have 100% Japanese capacitors. Nichicon is a very well known brand in terms of reliability and is rated to 105c these really are excellent capacitors. The only thing we did note is that compared to other Thermaltake power supplies we have seen, this does appear to be a brand change. As this is an exceptionally powerful and high-performing PSU though, this might be the factor in this decision.
The soldering to the base of the capacitors is also some of the neatest we have seen.
