Thermaltake Toughpower iRGB Plus 1250w PSU Review

Final Thoughts

Pricing

The Thermaltake Toughpower iRGB Plus 1250w power supply retails for a price in the region of £350-£390. That is clearly quite a lot of money, you do, however, have to consider what you are getting for that.

Titanium rated power supplies are never cheap. If you found one that was, personally I’d advice you to run a mile from it! This is especially for those with power outputs above 1000w. Given that this is both 1250w and significantly over the rating requirement, this really is an exceptionally good power supply. Yes, it’s a lot of money, but you are getting what is perhaps one of the best power supplies currently available on the commercial market.

If we get down to basics though, if your system really needs over 1000w of power, you do not want to get a weak power supply. Spend the money and get one you know if not only built to last but will also give you the best performance you could want.

Overview

Power supplies are often the blandest things within a PC. The inclusion of RGB lighting is, therefore, a fantastic addition to make this standout from the pack. Better still, the options on offer within the software are excellent with the software being both details and amazingly easy to use. Beyond that, the design itself is really solid. With the 100% Japanese capacitors and excellent test results, it really is hard to find anything wrong with this power supply.

Overall, it’s pretty perfect for a high-performance power supply.

Efficiency and Beyond

The efficiency rating for this power supply is awesome. It’s that simple. Any power supply that nearly tips 95% efficiency at full load is one that has clearly been exceptionally well made. Not only that but in terms of all of its performance levels, this continually proved that its design and their component choices are beyond reproach. Thermaltake have spared no expense here in giving you a top performer.

Should I Buy One?

There is going to be a significantly more limited market for those looking for 1250w of power with Titanium rated efficiency. Most people tend to settle for around 650w-750w and a gold rating. This power supply, therefore, is a little niche and for many might be a bit overkill for your needs. If you do, however, have an exceptionally powerful or hard-working system though, the Thermaltake Toughpower iRGB Plus PSU ticks all of the right boxes.

Yes, it isn’t cheap, but then you don’t get power supplies this good without paying for it. This power supply is almost the very definition of value for money.

The Titanium rating is completely justified and the power regulation is a brilliant piece of software that is easy to use. Beyond those points, put simply, this power supply makes some big promises in terms of performance and delivers on every level.

We can sum this up quite succinctly – You would struggle to find a commercially available power supply that had all the features of the Thermaltake Toughpower iRPG Plus and its incredible performance all within the same package.
