Thermaltake Toughpower iRGB PLUS 1000w PSU Review

Efficiency
With the Thermaltake Toughpower iRGB PLUS being a ‘gold rated’ power supply in terms of efficiency, it has a rather high level of performance expected from it. Put simply, the power efficiency must never fall below 88%. This is regardless of what amount of power is being used.
So, how did it manage? Well, as we have well come to expect from Thermaltake products, much better than what was required of it!
As you can see below, except at 100% load, the power supply regularly achieves above 90% efficiency. This is even borderline ‘Platinum’ ratings at times. So, put simply, this is an exceptionally strong gold performance!
PFC (Power Factor Correction)
As this is a rather high-powered, premium level power supply, a good PFC rating is pretty much expected of it. In this regard, Thermaltake (again) doesn’t disappoint.
While the rating did take a little dip at the 40% mark, the overall results were highly impressive. Another indication of the quality of design Thermaltake put in this.
Voltage Regulation
In our voltage regulation testing, the Thermaltake Toughpower iRGB PLUS achieved highly consistent results. This is, pretty much, exactly what you want. It isn’t unusual to see a little variance, but even in that regard, what is there, is rather tame.
It clearly shows that across all of the voltage outputs, this power supply does a fantastic job! This is regardless of how much, or how little, power you ask of it!
